Cozy Pajamas ~ Simplicity 8022

Today was (supposed to be) the first day back to school after 5 days off for Thanksgiving break. But thanks to a perfectly timed overnight snowstorm here in the Chicagoland area, the kids lucked out and received a super rare snow day off school. I think this is the 3rd or 4th day they’ve ever had off in 7 years. I have been sitting on this pajama pants pattern and fabric for a month, and thought this would be a great day to sew with them! They had other plans. :) So while they played the day away in the snow, as they should, I cozied up to the sewing machine and made three jammie pants with Simplicity 8022.

I had previously prepped my pattern and copied a few of the sizes onto my own pattern paper. I made a Youth Medium for my 9 year old son and a Youth Large for my 12 year old daughter.

Luckily, this pattern is quite easy to put together. Because my dog decided to shred the end of the directions! It’s a good thing he is so cute.

I dusted off my Brother serger and headed over to YouTube to figure out how to thread it again. What did we all do before the Internet? I’m pretty pumped that I got it set up and working. It is making a squeaking noise every so often….I’m guessing it needs some oiling and will need to figure that out. I welcome tips!

The pajama pants turned out so cute. I swear my daughter’s aren’t uneven at the bottom. She kept pulling them up on one side, and when I asked her to even them out, she refused. She’s 12, what more can I say? :)

Overall, I definitely give this pattern two thumbs up for ease of sewing and clarity of instructions. It really just involves sewing two pieces of fabric together. The fabric is adorable (found at JoAnns). And now my kids are set for 6 months of cold!
